What Is The Name Of The Disease That Causes The Bones Tobecome So Brittle In An Elderly Woman That They Break?

I knew a woman who suffered terribly from a severe, deteriorating, disease, and over a couple of years the skeleton via her physique pennyless and did not heal.
She in the future couldn’t move at all and died from pneumonia.

Osteoporosis. It’s not so much that the bones are brittle, but that there is loss of the bone mineral density and breakdown of the bone.
It still happens, but you can help yourself by working with your risk factors (smoking, calcium, drinking sodas, vitamin D, exercise) and getting screened for it. If the screen (DEXA, get your hip checked) shows you have osteoporosis, there are even drugs that you can take that help prevent bone loss and breakdown.
    Good luck. Wlitan

I suspect you mean osteoporosis. It starts as osteopenia and progresses to osteoporosis.
However, there are other osseous diseases that can manifest in elderly women. I don’t know enough about the woman you mentioned to accurately diagnose her.
